Candace Nelson Instagram – Cheers to (finally) taking time off 🥂 Charles took me to Mexico City to celebrate my birthday and I was blown away by its incredible taquerias, cantinas, markets, art museums, cathedrals, lush parks and walkable boulevards. As an entrepreneur and mom, it can be challenging to take a “true” vacation but whenever I can step away from my daily grind I always feel so much more inspired when I return. To all my entrepreneurs and people with big aspirations – when’s the last time you took some time off? Ps : I will post some specific CDMX recommendations on my stories soon!
Candace Nelson Instagram – I lost SO MUCH money from this HUGE business mistake… 👇🏼👀 It was 2018, Pizzana’s first Academy Awards night… With all the Oscars parties, we expected a very busy night for takeout. We called in extra staff, bought more ingredients, and folded HUNDREDS of boxes. The orders started coming in, but it quickly turned into chaos… 🚨 We started to get overwhelmed, but in our eagerness to please everyone, we just kept taking orders. As hard as we tried we just couldn’t keep up. Orders were hours late, some never made it out, and we lost track of who received what. Then came the storm of texts… 🚨🚨 Friends and acquaintances, all frustrated, asking, “Where’s our food?” Instead of celebrating a record night, we spent the next day apologizing, refunding every order, and giving out gift cards. What should have been a great sales day was a DISASTER! As a brand new business, refunding a full night of sales and giving out gift cards on top of it HURT! But it was the right thing to do. That, plus a personal note of apology from Chef Daniele and myself.
