Cara Jade Myers Instagram – The MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) movement exists because a large number of Native women and girls go missing and are murdered each year compared to women from any other groups. It’s not just our females, our male, trans, and 2-spirit relatives are part of the MMIW epidemic. I like to use MMIW to mean Warriors to be more inclusive of all our relatives.
• Murder is the 3rd leading cause of death for Indigenous women.
• More than 4 in 5 Native American womens will experience violence in their lifetime.
• 94% percent of Native American women have been raped
And Non-natives make up 96% of sexual violence against
Native women.
• 40% of the girls kidnapped into sex trafficking are Native American girls mostly by Non-Natives.
• Non-Natives make up to 97% of crimes against female Native Americans.
• Non-Natives make up 90% of crimes against male Native Americans.
• Native women are murdered at a rate 10 times higher than any other ethnic group.
• Most are murdered by Non-Natives.
• Native American women are 10 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than any other ethnic group.
• 96% of it done by Non- Natives.

There’s literally landfills with Indigenous women’s bodies.
