I know that these 2 things coinciding on the same day has many in an uproar, however, we have celebrated #TDOV for over a decade. It’s nothing new. As a believer in Christ and as a trans person, I’m so happy that they fall on the same day this year! Pride season officially starts tomorrow. We are living in a time where new possibilities and new narratives for trans people have become reality. Where so many people have thought we couldn’t thrive, we have! This is why the stories about trans people in Hollywood are so few and far between the stereotypes of just our struggles. We are the generation that defies the narratives that have been placed upon us by society. It all starts with us being in our truth, owning it, and persevering through the adversity and ignorance to reach our goals & dreams. It’s not about hiding our transness anymore or being a slave to it but allowing it to be a part of why we are so unique and carry so much depth within our character. Part of the reason why I’m confident, creative, and talented is because I am trans and the experience I’ve had with it. I made a decision before I transitioned to not live in the confines of what others thought was possible for me as a trans person. I’m so grateful that I decided to take control of my own narrative to become the woman and live the lifestyle that I’ve always known I deserve. People thank me all the time for inspiring them and that goes beyond just the trans experience. That’s the joy that comes with being visible.
