Catherine Haena Kim Instagram – “Adulting is hard.” Half the time I’m waiting for the “adult” to show up until I realize it’s supposed to be me. Sometimes, it means juggling as many things as is humanly possible, incl being joyous about one thing while your heart is breaking over something else.
It’s the anniversary of my dad’s death this week. Is that how you say that? It always feels strange to say. I’m joyous getting to play ‘Emma Hill.’ It feels like I’m being called to level up, although half the time it does feel like I’m just getting my ass kicked. I have this strange feeling I wouldn’t have this role without my dad’s help somehow, and my heart hurts b/c he never got to visit me on a set. I wish he were here now. The adult me has feelings, the child me has other feelings, and mostly, I wish we’d had more time.
In the grand scheme of things, there isn’t a lot of time. So for whoever needs to hear it: Do the thing. Say the thing. Be brave anyway.
