Cheryl Dunye Instagram – Director Cheryl Dunye sat down with Black Girl Nerds to discuss her creative journey – from her debut film The Watermelon Woman, the first film from a Black lesbian, to the development of her company Jingletown Films.
Cheryl speaks on the importance of thinking out-of-the-box, playing with form and using all of your identity in your work, especially for queer people of color filmmakers. She also notes the significance of nourishing other modalities outside of cinema to become a better storyteller by tapping into all the aspects of who you are or could be.
