As the world approaches the halfway point in this decisive decade, two things are true at the same time:
1️⃣ The energy transition is in full swing:
Costs for clean technologies are plummeting, progress is speeding up every year and fossil fuel demand is dying.
2️⃣ Despite this progress, we’re not moving at the speed required.
Next year governments will submit updated national climate plans (NDCs) to the UN – these plans must close the current ambition gap and reflect the progress already underway.
👉 Can we hold both these truths close, so that we can embrace all the feelings and take the action required to get ourselves on track for a cleaner future?
👉 We can. It is absolutely possible and we are totally capable.
