Folake Olowofoyeku Instagram – This was my source of inspiration for Abishola’s hairstyle: Baby Fo!
As a child, I despised having my hair touched and would cry for hours!
In Junior Secondary school, we were mandated to wear a different hairstyle each week, or face punishment. I vowed never to braid my hair again after i graduated.
Little did I know, it was all research for my character, Abishola. I hadn’t realized that sitcom characters are meant to remain unchanged over time, so the iconic and controversial hairstyle will endure far beyond me!
What a journey! I love Abishola so much!! She’s truly become a part of me, from the inspiration behind her hairstyle to the evolution of her character. It’s been an incredible half a decade ride!
