Holly Ringland Instagram – Visiting Wandandi Boodja to be a part of @mrrwfestival and talk about writing, fear, creativity, grief and joy was my first public gathering on home soil for 2024. It nourished my bones.
Thank you to everyone who made this beautiful festival possible and who came to our events – I’m not talking shit when I say that I was blown away by the warmth and energy of the audiences I had the honour and privilege to stand in front of. My voice still shakes but the meaningfulness of the opportunity I have to speak about everything that stops us from making our art – and the courage we have to go above those blocks – keeps me going.
Thank you @gillianoshaughnessy for hosting and creating such a joyous, glorious conversation for us and @glynnfluencer_ for being joyous and glorious in general. Huge thanks to Megan of @festivalmavens fame for stepping in and hosting such a beautiful conversation with me at our Busselton Special event. Thank you to the tireless and passionate booksellers and event photographers. And to all the readers… you undo me! Just two moments that made my heart crumble: @hudmama_ (pictured) came to meet me wearing custom Alice Hart jewellery handmade in Manchester by my beloved @silvergreenjewellery (who I write about in Joy) 🤯❤️🔥🌸 And the magical Jenny (pictured) who I first met in 2022 on tour in Borloo/Perth for Esther – spent her special birthday at our dinner with her beautiful family (who are another post all together) 🥹
Heartfelt thanks to all the incredible volunteers who took such genuine care of us, and to all of the dazzling authors that were an absolute fucking delight to witness shining. Particular thanks to @andrewohaganauthor for the perfect words at the perfect time (video) and Zac Webb for such a generous Welcome To Country on opening night. Huge congratulations to Sian Baker, Artistic Director, for such a gorgeous weekend, bringing us all together. I’m grateful for the reminder this glorious festival and place gave me, of how essential it is that we gather to share art and stories and their power of connection in our lives.
