Jasmin Savoy Brown Instagram – It’s difficult to put into words the collective grief we are experiencing as a planet watching what’s unfolding around the world. The truth is, Gaza is just one example of a group of people being targeted and victimized by a government simply for existing. I know this subject is nuanced and I hope no one has interpreted my call for a ceasefire as a way of diminishing the pain of the Jewish families who lost loved ones in October either to death or abduction. The grief is massive and collective for ALL impacted that day, before and beyond. Of course we want the hostages freed. That goes without saying. But what does not go without saying is FREE PALESTINE. Free Palestine must be said. The history of Palestinian victimization and targeting is older and more complex than most of us are able to grasp in our limited few months of research. What I am capable of understanding and saying right now is this: Palestinians deserve a right to live and be free just like all of us deserve. Many members of our Jewish community are hurting right now as well, due to an interpreted alliance to a government they may not agree with. Not Palestinians, not American or Israeli Jews, not your neighbors or your boss. Antisemitism has no place here or anywhere.
