Jessica Knoll Instagram – The good news: Bright Young Women is now publishing September 19th, three weeks earlier than the original pub date. There isn’t really bad news, just the reality of publishing a book in 2023, with so many more prominent book clubs than there were when I published Luckiest Girl Alive in 2015 and The Favorite Sister in 2018. Book club picks are fate changers, we all want it and some of us really whore ourselves out trying to get it—couldn’t be me—but there are SO MANY MORE new releases than there are opportunities to be selected. As a result, publishers have started to shuffle around pub dates in an attempt to give your book the best shot possible at cutting through the noise and connecting with readers. My old pub date landed on the same day book club picks are revealed, and the fear is that Bright Young Women could get lost in the fanfare of those announcements. So we’ve made the executive decision to push up the pub date, and because you’ve obviously already preordered, may I ask that you share this far and wide in the hopes of reaching those who have not?
