Jewel Instagram – Mother’s Day gift! My son has been making candles for several years now. Really proud of the skills it has helped him develop. Building self esteem by learning he is capable of something complex. Patience from ideation to creation to a sale. People skills as he sells in person at festivals a lot. Handling rejection cause lots of people say no thank-you. (And sometimes not that nice) math skills as he learns to budget and manage books over the years. And independence- knowing when he likes ANOTHER hat or a loud jacket (where does he get that from?! 🤷 ) he can buy it for himself. And creating a savings for himself that he feels SO proud of! Jewel Instagram – Catching up with Jewel. For her newest endeavor, @jewel returns to her visual art roots with ‘The Portal: An Art Experience by Jewel’, an interactive and powerful exhibition that is the crossroads of music, mental health, art, and technology at @crystalbridgesmuseum, an American Art Museum in Bentonville, Arkansas. The exhibit runs from May 4th through July 8th. R&I caught up with Jewel in New York to talk about stepping back into that world and about her continued advocacy in the mental health space by launching @innerworldapp. She shares poignant thoughts on how we can make something beautiful when we feel broken, how motherhood has shaped her, and more.
