Johanna Griggs Instagram – Part 2 of our Uluṟu Adventures for @cfassnidge and I on @bhgaus coming your way tonight….. After watching the incredible #wintjiriWiru Drone show last week, Colin and I get to explore the rock up close and see parts of the Mala story represented in the rock, with Operation Ranger Lauren McLeod (an absolute firecracker – smart, quick-witted, funny and knowledgeable- she honestly could have her own show) Then it’s time for Colin to cook up a ridiculously delicious Kangaroo dish in his new favourite kitchen. A trip to Uluru wouldn’t be complete unless you visit GOCA – an absolutely gorgeous gallery that sells artworks from communities right across Central Australia, and importantly gives back to the artists. We are shown how they stretch the canvases to get them ready for display by Assistant Manager Ronnie Haines. Then it’s off to check out the indigenous workplace initiative – The Real Jobs Program in action…. The RJP provides employment opportunities for indigenous people in the NT. We check out the work by the Landscaping team at the Desert Gardens Hotel. We chat with Kailen Kelly, and are joined by Landscaping supervisor Dayne Hodges, along with Leigh, Craig, Zach, Robert, and Joel who completed the work for us in excruciatingly hot conditions (🙏🙏🙏), before learning about some of the symbolism we see in aboriginal artwork with two incredible artists in Denise Brady and Judy Edwards. With so much to do it’s easy to see why this part of the world is on so many people’s bucket list.
