Jonalyn Saxer Instagram – One more reflection of 2023:
Probably one of the best parts of last year was taking the leap and going to Iceland on a solo trip. It was incredible. It was also difficult. I planned the entire thing myself, spent hours and hours researching, and I felt like it truly paid off. I challenged myself in ways I didn’t know I needed to. I got so comfortable being by myself and with my own thoughts, and following the things that amazed me and intrigued me.
This video is a little BTS of what a lot of the trip was like. I set my tripod up and started filming to get some great shots.
However, this was after/during me crying in the car because I had been driving in white out conditions by myself for about 2 hours. And my original plan was to then drive another 3 to the next waterfall. I was in awe of the natural beauty around me, freezing cold, trying to keep the tears from falling, and also trying not to slip on the ice myself.
I look back and kind of laugh now at that deep exhale I make toward the end. Because I was in a position where I HAD to keep moving forward. And I made it through to the next moment. (I ended up cutting my sightseeing short and going straight to the spa I had planned to visit lol). But I made it through and I will always be proud of myself for that.
