Jewish Voice for Peace: “We’re interrupting business as usual. The lives of 2.2 million Palestinians and 240 Israeli hostages in Gaza are in peril. The Israeli and US governments are endangering them in our names, using US-made bombs and billions of our tax dollars.
Gaza is an open-air prison only ¼ the size of the city of Los Angeles with nearly ⅔ the number of people. It is under a 16-year blockade that has only grown worse as the Israeli government has cut off all access to food, water, electricity, and medicine. The Israeli military has dropped the equivalent of 2 nuclear bombs on Gaza, murdering over 11,000 Palestinians — 4,600 of them children — and threatening the lives of its own citizen hostages, for whom all of this violence is supposedly justified. The lives and fates of Palestinians and Jewish Israelis are intertwined, and we’re fighting for the safety that can only come when everyone is free.”
