people say this stuff all the time because it DOES work, but for some of us, it really DOESN’T work.
in fact, if you’re a big dreamer with multiple interests like me, this exact advice is usually the 🔪 in the ⚰️.
for years this advice caused me to feel completely out of alignment & like a total failure.
i’d try to do post about one thing only, because that’s what the experts said to do.
but then i’d get bored, burn out & want to quit it altogether.
i’d feel unsatisfied, really really sad & wonder what the hell was wrong with me that i didn’t operate like everyone else.
i questioned if i could ever actually be successful at any one thing, when i like to do more than one thing.
if this sounds familiar, i have good news for you, my big dreamer, multi-passionate friend.
your story and your journey is WAYYY more impactful than a niche.
people are multi-faceted, layered & complex. we were not made for niches or boxes.
and when you start to excavate your authentic, unfiltered self and unapologetically share it with the world, a funny thing happens.
people start to care less about the specifics of what you do, and more about the specifics of who you ARE.
they want to know what you care about. what lessons you’ve learned. what you like. what you don’t like. AND if they love you, they’ll also probably love what you do.
when you reach this level of comfortability within yourself and feel safe being fully seen in your messiness, you magnetize people to you.
you create the kind of attraction that propels you into the spotlight whether you do one, five or twelve things.
and don’t worry, people will always find the part of you that resonates with them naturally.
as humans, we start to look for that almost automatically.
that’s why you don’t have to sacrifice any of the parts that make you you.
