Khyati Shree Instagram – When silk worms go through metamorphosis (*not hibernation) they form a cocoon inside which they transform into a silk moth. Once they erupt out, the cocoon is left behind and it’s a natural waste. The silk thread is reeled out from this cocoon, and the thread can then be pressed and woven in loom machines to form silk cloths. The whole process just blows my mind, how humans came up with the skill of extracting such fragile threads from a worm’s shell and turn it into layers of strong fabric. Great respect for people who operate handlooms too, although machines have replaced a lot of manual work, the people who operate this intricate machine are remarkable craftsmen.
