Growing up, I always loved going to the hairdresser because I knew it would mean that I would leave with pin-straight hair. From such a young age, I equated straight hair with beauty. There were days in elementary school that I literally faked being sick because I didn’t like the way my curly hair looked that day. I owe it to Little Kiana to embrace my curls. I want to change the narrative that straight hair means a more “professional” look. I also want to change the narrative that leading ladies must have blown-out hair. Straight hair is beautiful and curly hair is beautiful! I thank God for how He made each one of us unique and I pray for continued courage to be natural.
