Laura Vandervoort Instagram – I’m going to be real vulnerable for a minute. Hang tight. For all the creatives, for friends struggling & to remind myself…

The work doesn’t stop in between. Auditioning for the next job is our full time unpaid job. You do it a thousand times again… and again. It’s Frustrating, exhilarating, brutal, enjoyable and more competitive than ever.

Sometimes you want to throw in the towel (I know I do several times a year after 27 years in this business) because nothing seems to ever be a win, no matter how good the work is, but you keep going because it just takes that one that fits, that one when someone finally says, “Yes, her!” This is a business where there are no ‘promotions’ or clear next steps regardless of the hrs you’ve clocked and years you’ve dedicated to it. It’s a constant grind and you can be tossed aside the very next day.

✨ But it is also an incredible job you GET to do, a business of expression, creativity and adventure. It can be so so magical… when it all fits into place.

The odds may be stacked against you, but you never know how close you just may be. It’s frustrating AF, don’t get me wrong. So much is out of our control and that may be the most difficult part. Just keep doing good work, make your strong choices, try to have fun when you can. Do the audition and try your best to move on.

Rise up, you’ve got this. These are just a few of the auditions I’ve done this year… maybe half. I booked none of these but you keep going.
