Laverne Cox Instagram – New Music!! New Music!! New Music!!! Well the music is actually quite old, composed by Franz Schubert in 1817. It’s a German lied or song called “Der Tod und das Mädchen” or “Death and the Maiden” in English. I fell in love with this lied obsessively listening to a Jessye Norman live recital album in high school. Because the lied has 2 different characters I thought it could be interesting to sing the Maiden in Soprano and Death in Baritone since I can. So many singers have sung this beautifully.
