The only time you’ll ever see this vegan using a meat injector 😂 💉 I was so proud of this satisfying trick to fix soft spots in my floor that I had to take videos to show my dad and uncle but then thought: why hide this away from the rest of the world? Truth is I’ve been so busy renovating and landlording the past 3 years that I haven’t had time to document or share much, but anyway… In the other apartments in my building there was enough space under the baseboard heaters to put lauan down prior to the LVP but not this one and the original pine was a disaster. We had to use levelastic in areas but it wasn’t the best; feel like it crumbles over time. Gaps had formed which is normal for a floating floor but the vinyl was even starting to crack and break over the soft spots and I reeeally didn’t wanna rip out all my new trim and thresholds and get into all that. So, I knocked what I could back into place with a pull bar under the baseboard heaters/where there was no trim, then did this. I broke the meat injector needle immediately but it still worked fine as you can see without one. Some spots only needed one syringe, others took up to 4! The painters tape was just to mark where the soft spots were visually but not necessary. Sometimes I needed to drill a second hole for airflow or else it wouldn’t fill; if you look closely you can see the floor pops up a little once a hole is drilled. I used an 1/8 inch drill bit and the Mainstays brand meat injector, Big Stretch caulking (almond color was on sale!) and Robert’s vinyl repair putty in light grey to fill the holes after and a couple gaps I couldn’t close because that’s what I had; I could have probably found a better color match but it’s really not super noticeable unless you’re on the floor like Jlo and Pitbull. Lastly, I will accept zero judgement about my black and decker screw gun! She may be cheap but she is my old trusty and I will use her til she dies because she is perfectly fine and gets the job done, so there! 🎥 & emotional support by @bloodyjerome
