Mary Stuart Masterson Instagram – This post is about LOVE which is, at best, a verb. And pie, though a noun, when made by someone you love, who loves you- is also love. In my childhood, love was these pies—apple and pear pies Gladys made for our family. Some lonely middle school days, I’d come home to the smell of butter and vanilla and cinnamon and I knew it was okay. It would be okay. These cards, and the splashes of lemon and pear juice, Gladys’ buttery fingerprints and vanilla stains are over 40 years old now. Recipes, like seeds, are strands of nurture that weave through generations. Finding and touching these cards recently, worked like an incantation. A powerful re-mothering for me and a simple gesture of love on a plate for my kid. Maybe they’ll get that same “it’s okay… It’s gonna be okay”, feeling I once did. | Posted on 19/Feb/2024 03:26:03
