Melissa O’Neil Instagram – Resurfacing from the realization of a long held intention to connect in person with Callie Russel @caprakhan after feeling her spirit through the screen during her time on @alonehistory. And it was a wonderful treat to have the added joy of receiving from Rain Gorenc as they guided us through the ancient human processes of hide tanning and wool felting. We had the opportunity to camp and spend time on stunning land along Oak Creek in a beautiful meadow with Large Old Cottonwood Trees. Having access to this land was in and of itself an unimaginable sweetness. 🌬️🍃 Portals in time like this often defy attempts at proper description. It was wild and sweet and I had to tear myself away, literally walking backwards so I could take in everyone’s faces as they sang me off. As I write this I am sorely missing those quiet mornings on the land sitting under the Grandmother Cottonwood before anyone (except maybe Sam) had woken up… and then all of us slowly gathering around the morning fire for breakfast and fresh goat milk coffees. Feeling grateful for the beautiful container that Callie and Rain created for this time and for the crafts they shared so skillfully… For all of the Elements that made our work possible, and refreshed and nourished us… For all the animals whose lives we have so much to give thanks for- The goats, the sheep, the birds, the ducks and of course, Hani Wolf! For the harmonious group of collaborative humans that came together to learn new skills and just be open… I adore you! (@lissethchavez 🫶🏼) That’s all for now. Probably more later.
