Date night but make it festive 🎄💕with both of us being from the bay, it’s been quite a socially packed holiday season for the two of us. Happy we were able to squeeze in a night for some “us time”& write letters to Santa lol

Happy 35th birthday to my partner in life ❤️I asked Ray what he wanted to do for his birthday and he said, “Idk, something chill” lol. Doesn’t get more Ray than that answer.
Unseen bits from that week in New York. P.S. we haven’t moved yet but did apt hunt & got a taste of our new life 😬💕
I turn 33 this week 🎂. This year & age feel different because of all the change that is going to happen. TBH, I was quite unhappy with 32 (more in the episode). It wasn’t until I reflected on what made me so unhappy that I realized what I needed to do to make this year different. Some things I want to feel while I enter 33: 💭Challenged- I hit a level of complacency & comfort in my life that I’m not ok with. Personal growth is a value of mine & I’m excited to feel challenged as I embark on a new life on the East Coast. 💪🏻Physically Stronger- It’s no secret that I started to take care of myself physically a few years ago. I want to take it a step further & get on a good workout routine. GLOW UP IS COMING! 🥰Loved- Moving in with my boyfriend is a huge step for me. I want to ensure we have romance while becoming roommates. 🥹😬Happier- I truly want to LIVE my life now & not live in this bubble of complacency. This is the year that I’m actually taking that leap & saying YES to things I’ve always wanted to. YES to moving to NYC. YES to trying new creative things. YES to travel. YES to feeling more ALIVE & INSPIRED BY LIFE✨ More thoughts on this on the latest ep of No Dumb Questions with Mel!
Yes, it’s true, Mel is officially moving to New York City😮😮! Not only is this a big deal for her to move from West ➡️East Coast, but she’s also taking a major step in her relationship by moving in with her boyfriend Ray 💕. It’s never easy to step out of your comfort zone, but as someone who’s always wanted to experience living in new places, this move is coming at the perfect time for Mel ❤️ She’s so excited to share why she’s moving to NYC, what she’s most excited (and nervous) about, and…is this a forever move??🤔
What an honor it was to officiate the marriage between Annie & Eric 💕 I met both of them, through TASA (Taiwanese American Student Association) when they were just freshmen in college at UCSD. Eric joined because he wanted to be involved with the Taiwanese American community. Annie joined because she saw Eric & thought he was cute 😬jk. They eventually got together at our annual snow trip & have been together ever since then. To see them transform from curious college students to grown adults, navigating milestones, like marriage is incredible. Annie & Eric, ty for letting me be a part of your love story 🥲 📸: @tinphotography

“The quiet work you don’t see”. We hear & see the topic of SELF-HELP a lot. Like myself, you’re probably drawn to the topic because you want to see a shift in your life. You want to “glow up💁🏻♀️” or “elevate✨.” But you can’t elevate without ACTION. As someone who has “personal development” as her #1 value, I share the 3 Basic Skills I zeroed in on these last few years to actually see change in my life: 🫶🏻Self-Awareness 🏃🏻♀️Proactiveness 💥Discipline I go into extensive detail & the HOW (I’m a proactive kind of gal) for each skill in the new episode of No Dumb Questions with Mel #newepisode #selfhelp
I went to @chilis for my 33rd birthday 😬! Using my birthday as an excuse to relive my favorite moments from my adolescence. This year, my friends & I got to sip on $6 margaritas, nibble on baby back ribs, and be transported in time at Chilis 😆 What place did you eat at a lot in high school? Maybe I’ll go there next year lol
Mondays mean meal prep for the week for me! My weeks can be unpredictable, so I like to have a bunch of food ready to go in the fridge. Some other notes & fun personal cooking preferences: ⏰I like to keep cooking time at an hour max! 🥘 prefer to keep recipes relatively simple & find most of recipes on @pinterest 🛒 mostly shop at @traderjoes cause of portion & price 🙂 🍗🫛 like to have one protein, carb and veggie option 🥣 try to portion the meal prep, so I can order out in case I get tired of the food 😅 🌷enjoy alternating dishes depending on the season. For example, spring is here so craving more of a cold carb dish vs something warmer. Let me know if you like this kind of meal prep content! I’d love to find some way to share more of my cooking ❤️ #mealprep #cooking #dinnerideas #easyrecipes #traderjoesrecipes

First mini show drop of 2024 & it’s one I’m pretty proud of 😉 it involves my mom 💕 “I have no goals” was how my mom initially answered when I asked her “what are you new year goals?” The topic of reflection & goal setting is pretty popular amongst our generation. Around this time, whether you’re looking through some self help podcasts or books (guilty 🙋🏻♀️), “setting intentions” & “goals” are everywhere. Being back at home, this holiday season, it made me think about my mom & wondered about HER goals. I’ve never asked her this question ever before. After giving me the answer above, I decided to dive deeper into WHY this was her response her. It sparked an interesting conversation & I learned things about my mom I never knew ✨ episode out on Spotify!
Thoughts going into the new year 💭 The first few days of 2024 were filled with me frantically going through this 20 page goal setting worksheet, self help podcasts, asking myself the hard questions I’ve been avoiding, and setting the right intentions for the new year. My brain hurts. Upon reviewing the past year (2023), I was left feeling very unsettled with the lack of satisfaction I had with myself. I may have taken strides in some aspects of my life (my relationship with a partner & fitness), but I paused my steps forward in other core values (inner harmony & personal growth). I realized I didn’t do as much self check in as I should’ve. I truly believe you need to be at this equilibrium in ALL the core things you value or you’ll feel off/not fulfilled. Anyways, I keep going back to the quote, “Nothing is going to change if nothing changes”. Well, let’s just say major moves are coming 😉 more on this later. If you’re looking for some reflection Q’s, we go through ours in the latest ep of ABG (ep 253: Looking Back to Look Ahead) .
It’s true when they say the older you get, the less time you have with your loved ones. I’m guilty of using the excuse, “I’m too busy” one too many times, especially with my family. The older I get, I’m realizing how much I value my family & want to spend more intentional moments with them, like this one on one with my mom. It may just look like a tea time with my her, but it made me incredibly happy to have this precious, uninterrupted time with her. My wish is to eventually take her on a mother daughter trip sometime in the future 💕#motherdaughter #sanfrancisco
