Michaela Watkins Instagram – Ok here we go. My dear ‘ol dad died suddenly last Tuesday.
He was a brilliant mathematician, witty, stern, an avid outdoorsman, disciplined musician, lover of language, travel, his children his 2nd wife Brenda and her son , the grand kids (and as of a week before he died – his first GREAT GRANDSON) and all on the tightest budget he would allow himself to indulge. He was born on Passover and died on Passover. He was a practicing Jew and yet we both agreed on our disdain of Netanyahu and we both agreed on our love of hiking camping canoeing swimming arguing politics reading math games theater classical music and playing duets with me on piano and him on oboe and trombone. He was a unique guy who made us the oddballs we sorta are.
He will be so missed by my sisters and me and especially by his wife Brenda whom he adored for 35ish years.
He died abruptly and while jarring to us, it passed mercifully quick for him—doing what he loved. Walking on his favorite trail in Syracuse with his best friend, my sister, Sarah.
