A year ago today we went to the hospital, 2 months before your due date. No hospital bag with us not even a toothbrush. The doctor put us on a monitor and it was confirmed, I was contracting, amniotic fluid was very low and your heartbeat was dropping.
We stayed calm. We had prayed over you 2-3x a day since you were in my belly saying you are a happy healthy baby. As night became early morning this one was more serious. We couldn’t find your heartbeat for almost two minutes. Doctors pulled out all the plugs and ran me out to the OR as fast as they could, we had seconds to find your heartbeat. Thankfully we did. We had one option, get you out as quickly as possible.
My teeth started chattering beyond control. I was so scared to have a c-section but also willing to do whatever it took to get you out safely. I waited for your cry to take a breath and when I heard that voice I put my trust in the doctors. We would spend our next 30 days together in the NICU. Didn’t want to miss a moment.
