Norah Casey Instagram – My all time favourite flower… you’d think they knew we were coming @solylunapmogan 💚 There is something wonderful about the bird of paradise. The flamboyance of the beautiful vibrant orange and purple and the stunning architectural elegance of the flower. It reminds me of birds about to take flight.  I’ve been enthralled by it since my neighbours successfully got theirs to flower although it took them 15 years. The idea of nurturing such a magnificent flower into bloom took hold and I became a regular buyer of bird of paradise plants. I read that they don’t mind being a bit neglected, which is just as well, and that with enough sunlight you can coax them into bloom in a few years. The tragedy of my gardening career is that none ever managed to flower under my diligent care. I have but one plant left and it remains stubbornly leafy. But… when I see them, especially unexpectedly like tonight – it lifts my heart. Nature is truly wonderful #birdofparadise
