As much as I try to work on myself, I can’t ignore these realities.
#metoo movement had created a voice against such acts but these people from the Bollywood industry didn’t change. They still try to take advantage of the newcomers.
People like me who genuinely want to create a good impact are pulled down. Even after portraying my focus, decline and dedication skills to achieve my aim, these people want only one thing to give me opportunities.
And it makes me sad. The incident I talked about is just one story, there are many. And I wonder if a known person like me has many then how many the struggling actors face. We should talk about it, repeatedly.
There are casting directors whose 1st question is if I am ready to compromise… not my portfolio or audition.
Actors are harassed, traumatised and killed by these gatekeepers of Bollywood even when they show their highest talents.
Why blame those influencers for having no talent? Do you know 60% of influencers are those who dream to become an actor but stop themselves as they don’t want to compromise? At least they go viral on reels and are accepted by the audience for who they are.
My question to those gatekeepers to the entertainment industry is
1) Has the level of Bollywood gone down that you need someone to be great in bed than someone who is great in acting?
2) Has your business model changed to YOUR entertainment rather than public entertainment?
3) How much and to what extent you crave intimacy that the actor selection, which is one of the main element of a project is based on the casting couch.
