Renée Elise Goldsberry Instagram – This #MothersDay my gift was an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Carnegie Mellon University. And the joy of receiving it with my mom! She chose Carnegie Mellon for me all those years ago, and lobbied her heart out to get me in, so it is perfect to share this degree with her. I didn’t know it would feel so emotional to come back to my Alma Mater and be honored in this awesome way. I get to spend a lot of time on stage… but this moment was like no other. Staring out at the sea of graduates that have worked so hard and are ready to take on the world… seated beside the brilliant doctorate recipients, administrators, and faculty whose lives are devoted to using their awesome power and influence to do great things in this world… reconnecting with childhood and college friends and professors who I learned so much from… their lives still devoted to doing God’s work… It all moved me to tears. Class of 2024! Congratulations! I’m honored to be one of you! Motherhood is a miracle in my life, so this day was already sacred. Now I get to add DOCTOR to that title. Dr. Mom! That’s me now!
