Saba Douglas-Hamilton Instagram – Have just got back from the 17th @ffnfoundation award event in Arnhem, where Callie Veelenturf @callieveelenturf, Hana Weaver @hana.weaver, and Rinzin Phunjok Lama (instalink “rinzinplama” isnt working) won the Future for Nature award, an exquisite crystal raindrop encircled by three bronze tree frogs.
Their extraordinary efforts convincing Panama and Ecuador to adopt “rights of nature” legislation to protect leatherback turtles and all other wildlife; hauling the last 19 individuals of the Puerto Rican sharp-shinned hawk back from the brink of extinction; and scaling 5000 metre mountains year round, incl. in the depths of winter, to protect snow leopards in Nepal, have floored me.
