Zing Tsjeng Instagram – Guess who’s a freelance girlie now? After eight and a half-ish years at VICE, it’s my turn on the digital media redundancy cycle.
I started out as the fresh-faced Broadly UK editor and ended up editor in chief of VICE US and UK, which isn’t bad is it (cheers @jamie_clifton for taking a punt on me). I lost the long hair and gained a mullet and a ton of friends. I wrote some pieces, made some podcasts and videos and picked up a few Cannes Lions and a British Media Award along the way. I reported from Ukraine, Ibiza and outside literally every single building in the UK linked to colonialism (Empires of Dirt crew hiya).
Mainly though, I commissioned and edited hundreds of articles. To the dot com editorial team @beckyburgum, @niche_t_, @joezadeh, @annabelgat, @good_horoscope, @georgia_oqueef, Ella Glossop Duncan Cooper – you are the real legends. HIRE THEM. To every single journalist, writer, photographer, illustrator, designer, PD, AP, researcher, producer more – it was an honour to work with you and/or publish your work.
