my friend since 12 years old Marissa produced this shoot and interviewed me about passion in her apartment in montreuil while a pigeon two weeks dead was lodged in the windowsill. after the interview i helped her clean it up. when she lifted the bird barley spilled out from its gut. the greeks scattered barley before making a sacrifice to zeus. were we sacrificing something ? our dignity perhaps ? at the Clown Bar the next evening our fish was served…on barley! we were really warming up old Jove! and oysters – aphrodite?? – on a bed of milky grey salt. marissa asked the waitress if they reused the salt – they did, she said, but we still swiped some of it off the plate and into our napkins .. you never know what you’ll need in a pinch.
