On the morning of August 15, 2002, Mike and Mary Short were found murdered in their rural Bassett, Virginia home. Their nine-year-old daughter, Jennifer, was nowhere to be found. It quickly became clear that sheād been abducted by the killer. An extensive search for Jennifer began, but sadly, weeks later, her remains were found approximately 40 miles away from her home.
