This week, we’re covering a particularly grisly and heartbreaking murder that is still unresolved. On the morning of May 6, 2014, Russell Dermond, an 88-year-old beloved father and husband, was found dead in the garage of his home on Lake Oconee in Georgia. He had been brutally murdered, and his head was removed. Russell’s wife of 62 years, Shirley, was nowhere to be found. An intense search for her began, and on May 16, she was found in the lake. Shirley had also been murdered, and her body was weighed down with concrete blocks.
Despite a thorough investigation, the police have yet to identify a motive or suspect for this heinous crime. It’s been just over 10 years since Russell and Shirley were killed, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible… Listen now wherever you get your podcasts.
