That was the sentiment on October 15th, a week after the tragedy of October 7th. I had just sat down to have an Uncomfortable Conversation with a Palestinian woman. At that point, Noa and I so vehemently disagreed on a matter that the book literally fell apart. We didn’t talk for three weeks and the project was over. A project we had been working on since 2022, long before the war.
Thankfully, after walking away from each other for a moment, we both realized that this book was bigger than our raw temporary emotions.
The moral of the story is simple: it is okay to disagree with your friends, co workers and even loved ones at times. It’s okay to walk away for a moment and clear your head and your heart. It’s okay to well, be human and be hurt— just remember, where respect and love exist, disagreement won’t prevail.
