Hill Harper Instagram – Hill Harper has urged his Michigan Senate race rival, Elissa Slotkin, to reconsider her reluctance toward public debates. Engaging in debates would provide both candidates with a vital opportunity to articulate their policy positions directly to voters, emphasizing transparency and the chance to address key issues facing Michigan head-on.
Additionally, Nasser Beydoun, whose U.S. Senate run was cut short due to ballot issues, threw his support behind fellow Democrat Hill Harper on Monday, urging Michigan voters to send a message to the corrupt establishment amid the Gaza conflict.
Beydoun, a Dearborn businessman and Arab American civil rights leader, lauded Harper as “a beacon of integrity, vision, and commitment to public service,” and emphasized his ability to bridge divides and foster unity.
“Michigan has a historic opportunity to show the corrupt political establishment that Michiganders will not stand with Wall Street but with Main Street — that we want our tax dollars spent on strong public education, affordable universal health care, and a world-class infrastructure, not funding wars overseas,” Beydoun said during an endorsement event with Harper outside the Henry Ford Centennial Library in Dearborn. “Michigan has an opportunity to show that we will not stand idly by as our president and Congress effectively, actively support and fund a genocide.”
Beydoun’s bid to qualify for the Aug. 6 primary faltered after he submitted petitions with his P.O. box instead of his residential address. His subsequent legal challenge was rejected by the Michigan Court of Appeals.
