i am in your hands and backwards heart came out the time i was living in paris and writing. the feeling of walking around a city for months and not understanding anything i was hearing left me with my thoughts in a new way. i was in public and alone with my feelings. it wasn’t sad – it was interesting. made me want to reintroduce my grief to myself without distraction. i wanted to call on it again. i am in your hands is me at my most introspective within my grief and backwards heart is me at my most celebratory within it. the two opposites i found myself considering on those long foreign walks.
drug free america and question mark came from the days we made tiny moves and jesus is dead. i feel like they are the celebration moments of those sessions. the loosest. when you’re in it you feel so free to explore that corners of yourself. these two tracks are deep CORNERS. flying from that show in phoenix where bartees played call it off with us … “bartees (strange) desire”
