While girls ask for lavish gifts , what I wanted was free; reciprocity… To be told in the end that I love too much , communicate too much , care too much, I’m too honest, I do too much, I felt too much , I thought /plan too much, etc — yeah , it might have hurt in the moment but it quickly dawned on me that I am exactly what a man prays for. I knew almost instantly that I was only “too much” bc he was the wrong person. The right man would be so grateful to have a woman that not only rock with them when they were down and out, but actively help and support them to get up & reach their goals. The right man would value a woman who didn’t enable their unhealthy habits and hold them accountable to any mistakes. The right man would love the effort and time and attention he gets from the woman he loves. The right man would love how included he is in her life on all spectrums: her family , her work, her friends , her heart & spirit.
So I’m extra careful now. I don’t just give my heart to just anyone. I’m quick to cut someone off after a first date or the 20th date. Why? Bc not anyone is deserving of me and you better believe that my next relationship will be my last. A team , a force , a solid union. Who will add into my life as I do theirs.
