Lawrence Gilliard Jr. Instagram – Now that it’s out, I can tell this story as quickly as possible. It goes like this. “ Lawrence! They want to fly you to LA for 1 day to play Doc Rivers father!” Me-“I love Doc Rivers! I’ll do it!” In the scene are Doc’s kids, so I’m also the grandfather. I get to set and the hair and makeup team looks at me and says, “Who are you supposed to be again?” I say, “Doc’s dad. The grandfather.” They say, “You look like his brother.” (Even though true, flattery will get you everywhere with me, but don’t digress!) “What are we gonna do?” Me-“This is what we’re gonna do. Cut a balled spot down the center of my head and pepper up the sides.” Them-“Really? We’d never ask an actor to do that.” Me-“Yeah, well, I’m an actor and this is what I do.” Them-“And we’ll give you age lines on your face.” Me-“Love it!
