Mark Webber Instagram – Musical chairs this week hey!! ..As it’s a Bahrain favoured period here’s a snap shot of the very last time I ever jumped into a race car(at Bahrain).
@timo_bernhard_official brought the car in beautifully as always, you’ll see he takes out his booster seat(yes he is a short arse, 90% of racing drivers are😜). I jump in and “Shorty” our driver change mechanic(was the fastest in the business, and yes another short arse importantly for this job) is straight to work with his lightening fast hands in my crutch area sorting out my seatbelts 😅
You’ll see he’s wearing a head touch to help him see inside the cockpit, aiding to orientate and clip the belts in for me. The driver cannot see a bloody thing when getting strapped in, any problems with the belts at this point is a nightmare.
Then I close the door so the camera guys leave the area so the mechanics don’t need to deal with them, I then connect my drink and comms lines, do a radio check ASAP and wait for the car to be serviced before launching.
In F1 the @redbullracing boys once nailed a stop with me in 1.9 seconds, with sport-car racing by regulation only a very limited amount of people can be involved, luckily again I had the best guys here too, all legends… however can any spot an error in my side with the stop?? 🙄 Ps my arse wouldn’t fit in there atm. 🐷🤪 | Posted on 02/Dec/2020 20:32:46
