Ten years ago today, I joined 9/11 family members, rescue and recovery workers, and survivors, to dedicate the @911memorial Museum. Today it stands as a permanent reminder of those killed, and the service, bravery, and compassion of those who stood together in unity during those dark hours. The 9/11 Memorial Museum preserves an essential moment in our history for future generations, ensuring that we will never forget. Join me in visiting the #911museum, which will now offer free admission to New Yorkers on the first Monday of each month beginning June 3.
@bloombergdotorg has been working closely with governments and our partners for over a decade to establish data-driven solutions to drowning – a leading cause of injury death around the world. Now, we’re working to expand this work to 10 states in the U.S. with high numbers of drowning deaths to support swim instruction and strengthen data collection to better understand the circumstances. Jim Simons’ brilliant mind made him a legend in finance, but his most important investments came through philanthropy, including all the work he and Marilyn led together through the @SimonsFoundation. As founder of @MathforAmerica_, a major benefactor for @stonybrooku, a supporter of scientific innovation, and a funder of the fight against climate change, Jim was a force for progress on many of the most pressing challenges we face. The New York Climate Exchange on @stonybrooku GovernorsIsland that he was instrumental in founding, an effort @bloombergdotorg was glad to support, will help ensure that his impact will continue to grow for many decades to come.
60 years after the Beatles landed in New York and changed everything, I was thrilled to welcome Sir @paulmccartney back to the city to see Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-1964: Eyes of the Storm at the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibit highlights photos Paul captured from The Beatles’ first visit to America and other moments from the Beatlemania days.
