Osher Günsberg Instagram – When Nic Marchesi launched @orangeskyau with his best mate, the idea was to help restore dignity to people experiencing homelessness by providing a free laundry service.
What they didn’t plan on is that while the people were having their clothes washed, there was a chance to have a chat and connect with those people, and at that moment they were providing something far more valuable than clean clothes.
Nic is a brilliant human being and taught me a lot.
As we go through the conversation you’ll hear he never refers to a ‘client’, they’re always ‘ one of our friends’ and then gives them a name.
It’s a deliberate and beautifully humanising move that shifted for me how much we can ignore the person and instead focus on the problem especially when it comes to those who are sleeping rough.
It’s a wonderful story, and I know you’re going to think very differently about people experiencing homelessness by the time we’re through.
