Rob Greenfield Instagram – For 25 years I have been going by the name “Rob”.
Many assume my full name is Robert, but the name I was given at birth was Robin.
I was named after the robin bird. While my mom was pregnant with me there was a robin nesting next to our small house in the countryside near Lake Superior. As this mother robin was nurturing her babies, so, too, was my mom nurturing a Robin of her own.
I stopped going by Robin when I was 12 because I was insecure and I thought the name was too feminine. I was insecure not just about my name, but my whole being. I just wanted to be “normal” and when my friend Pat started to call me Rob I went with it wholeheartedly.
I have returned to Robin as I have fully embraced myself and become whole and complete inside.
Many of you have known me as Rob for a decade. “Rob Greenfield” has made a presence in your mind. I know it will take time for everyone to make the transition to calling me Robin. I will be patient. I invite you and encourage you Dear Friends, to call me Robin and think of me as Robin.
