Ron Funches Instagram – Been fighting depression pretty much 6 months before I filed for divorce. I knew my separation would be stressful and I could end up being destructive to myself. On the advice of @realfreddieprinze I enrolled at @jjmachadoacademy and started a process where I felt overwhelmed, uncomfortable, and unsure of myself. Over the past 18 months I’ve learned so much about myself and life in addition to jujitsu. Last Sunday I was invite to watch a belt promotion ceremony, little did I know I was also being promoted. The moment I got my blue belt my depression lifted. Not through magic but by knowing that I did in fact belong, I am capable, and I can do so many things. I look forward to a lifetime of jujitsu and life lessons and whatever color belts may come.
