he showed me through example that belonging can be solely internal if it has to be, one does not ever have to “wait to belong”, you establish a sense of belonging internally then project that outwards in any environment you find yourself in. belonging does not have to be outside-in, it can be inside-out, the latter allows you the power to never be reliant on anyone or anything to feel like you belong.
he taught me that i belong anywhere and everywhere, external circumstances be damned.
and he did it with a smile on his face, so that’s why you always see a smile on mine.
