Samba Schutte Instagram – Today’s (Our) Flag (Means Death) Day, and many of you have asked for deets on my character Roach in Season 2🪳 Here you are🏴‍☠️
Details on the costumes during fittings and after weathering and aging. It was great collaborating with Costume Designer Gypsy and being able to implement my own backstory. For the Red Flag fit I wanted him to have a headband because a chef never gets hairs on his meals. Unless it’s on the menu, or you’re serving the British👨🏾‍🍳
For his new fit, Roach got to have more jewelry this season because he became a better pirate. I chose 3 rings. The Lion to symbolize the Atlas Mountains where he hails from. The 2 headed Snake, because you have to always watch your back as a pirate. And a Celtic looking ring, because Roach has a tender spot. Like with his mother’s scarf. And of course his talisman necklace that he always wears, with every costume🪬At first it was gonna be a long sleeve shirt, but Jenkins wanted me to show off my sexy dessert making arms. Rightly so…..💪🏾
On his belt he had meat hooks, his cleaver as a weapon and of course, a wooden spoon for self defense🥄
I’ve never worn Doc Martens before and let me tell you, I don’t know how people smaller than me do it, those things weigh a ton each! Now imagine running on the beach in them👀
