Stunned to hear that @samontv has died. I always enjoyed my @ktla5news visits with him & deeply appreciated his continued support of @mptf. This was our most recent chat in advance of last December’s @mptf telethon. He was an LA TV institution. Sending condolences to his family and large circle of friends 😔

About tonight!‼️If you were planning on meeting Hollywood icon @tombergeron & me tonight at @zibbysbookshop, he’s giving the middle finger to C*ovid & made this fun video for the event. 😂😫🤠 Tom’s feeling good, phew. Nice guy that he is, he just doesn’t want to k*ll anyone. (Admirable.) I’m grateful he got sick AFTER accepting The Sam Rubin Award at last weekend’s Critics Choice Awards. Sam was one of the angels in this city of Angels before his recent passing. If Tom had to miss something, I’m glad it wasn’t that. And our Plan B tonight is so lovely! If you’ve always wanted to meet my magical sister—the famous Vedic @carolallenastrologer who has painstakingly chosen the date of every blessed week of retreat bliss in Carmel all these years (where the planets of Venus, Mercury, and the Moon all need to be HAPPY for the arts, friendship, writing inspo, & food fabulosity, etc.), here’s your chance.👯♀️ (I’ll post pics of her in my stories in a bit.) I wouldn’t have had the good fortune in my business or life if it weren’t for Little Sister. She made my book of big dreams and messy manuscripts (w/ tricks of the trade from bestselling authors) infinitely better w/ her snappy edits and even picked tonight’s auspicious date for the signing. (Hey, wait a minute—could getting Tom out of the picture have been her plan all along?)🤗 Carol will be filling in for Tom, and one of the reasons you’ll love listening to her is b/c she’s got a brilliant book brain, and as the family entertainer, she’s funny as heck. I’m the luckiest and love sharing my baby seester w/ my people. (This is not unlike how I took her to show-and-tell in kindergarten because I couldn’t believe how fortunate I was that she was mine and that I wanted all the kids in town to share in my glee. Yep. @tombergeron, you were missed! ❤️ Sister @carolallenastrologer had BIG shoes to fill (she joked that like @theshirleymaclaine, she felt like the understudy… that’s how Shirley got her start in the movies—look it up 🎬). I’ll forever cherish it and how Carol filled in for @tombergeron (who was home recovering from C*OVID; which he made us a hilarious video about—see Friday’s post). In this “sister act,” with someone who knows and loves me and my story more than anyone, Sister gives me s#it with glee and yet makes me feel safe to be ridiculously vulnerable because, with her, I am home. 🏡💕 If you ever feel scared revealing parts of yourself in your stories (& book talks!), consider that sometimes, sharing things that make our vulnerable hearts tremble is freeing. In this snippet, I’m referencing something about my body that Carol brought up earlier, linking back to a scene in the storyline from high school when I thought I’d die of embarrassment.😩The Smarty Pants Mean Girls had just cornered me in the quad about my low SAT scores and I’d knee-jerked lied to save face only to have it blow up spectacularly in my face 20 minutes later. Being voted “Biggest BSer” of our class was AGONY for a truth-teller.
