Yelawolf Instagram – HAPPY FATHER’S DAY .. especially for those men who have held space as a Father figure for those of us that didn’t have one around. I may have never known my Father but I certainly always had a Dad .. and for me that was my grandfather Paw Paw Tommy Mitchell !! This song was written as specific and factual as I could remember. My mother and I survived miraculously a terrible car crash .. and of course my Paw Paw was first on the scene to take us home along side my Maw Maw in his red long bed Chevy truck sometime in A.M .. a memory I made permanent with a tattoo of that truck down my ribs. one of my first actually. He was a volunteer chief firefighter , a volunteer medic , All the while helping to raise five kids and many grandchildren working a third shift factory job at Goodyear. This man was a hero. He literally made it his life’s mission to save lives !! Thank you @malayho and @djpaulkom for pulling this one out of me. And yo by the way when Paul says “ I was raised in the PJ’s “ at the end .. Tommy Mitchell was raised in Myrtlewood Projects Gadsden Alabama !! aka “ MURDER WOOD “ …. them SLUMERICAN roots run deep son and Paw Paw ‘s LOOKIN OVER for sure !!!
