Amanda Palmer Instagram – So many worlds colliding. Musical theater, drag, the @dresdendolls, my kid, fan art, and circular thank you notes.

This is 1) me and @thejinkx holding my son Ash’s first fan art, and what an unbelievable full circle moment. Jinkx is a longtime @dresdendolls fan (she was in the old school brigade as a baby theater geek teen in Portland) who exploded to stardom and won Rupaul’s drag race…twice.

History just collided when Jinkx played a role in a recent Dr. Who episode as a non-binary evil music-eating monster called “THE MAESTRO” – 3 and 4, can we talk about the LOOK HERE PEOPLE ♥️♥️♥️ – and Ash was smitten and made…his first fan art. Luckily Jinkx was nearby playing Audrey in an off-broadway run of “Little Shop of Horrors”, so we got to see the show and deliver the art IN PERSON….(plus special treat @jimmycarp as the sadistic dentist, shown here in slide 2, he was BRILLLIANT in the role goddamn). I wept real tears when Jinks sang “Somewhere That’s Green”, and Ash got to deliver his Maestro fan art. I got to have a really good long sushi sitdown with Jinkx and talk about life and art and stage and work and power. I think we have found our people. Does life get better than this?

Well, there’s always the rub. Jinks posted this photo to her feed and I was reminded that there are a ton of people out there who have encountered me only via TikTok memes who think I’m a terrible person. Whatever, people. I am so much bigger on the inside.

I love this life, these circles, this explosion.

Jinkx is heading to reprise her role as Mama Morton in CHICAGO on Broadway in a few days…head that way, please, and cheer extra fucking loud.

Saying thank you is important. In every direction. Jinkx put us on the list for the show and the final slide is Ash’s thank you note after seeing Jinkx’s show.
