Anel Alexander Instagram – Our 20th Anniversary, 19 April 2023. We got you a day pass from the hospital. It would be the last time you came home… 9 days later you were gone. I put on a dress you bought for me in London in 2014. It came in a box like in the movies. You always bought me the best clothes. I never wore this dress, because I was saving it for a special occasion, a red carpet event. In 2018 we were invited to the premiere of a movie you shot with Keanu Reeves in New York. The perfect occasion to wear my dress. But I didn’t go, cos we didn’t have the money to fly me out and of course there would be plenty more opportunities in the future. A few months later the first diagnosis came, and the dress stayed in the box. On 13 May 2023 I did get to wear it for a very special occasion, your Memorial. But knowing that you wouldn’t ever get to see me in it, I put it on for our last anniversary and walked through the hospital in my Kate Spade dress to bring you home one last time… I guess the lesson is: Don’t wait for one-day-when.
