Bapta Revival Project 2022 symbolises local communities & practices, craft revival and cultural sustainability. It is a collection of contemporary hand woven Patta Bapta Sarees, a unique combination of cotton and mulberry silk yarns using three-shuttle weaving technique with traditional temple borders (Phoda Kumbha), evolved version of ‘Rui Maach’ (Fish Motif) on the body and elaborate Sambalpuri Ikat (Yarn tied & dyed) Aanchal with multiple motifs such ‘Baandhi’, ‘Ghagra’, ‘ Baad Phool’, ‘Chot Phool’, ‘Lata’ etc woven by two groups (Kosta & Bhulia) of Meher communities in Western Odisha.
